Abstract

In today's world, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) have become important components in pharmacological research and development. The application of these technologies is aimed at making the process of discovering and developing drugs faster, more effective, and more accurate. The traditional process of drug discovery and development takes a long time, much money and involves extensive laboratory research. AI can solve some of these problems through data analysis in biological and pharmaceutical field that allows finding useful patterns and connections. AI technologies are currently implemented at many stages of drug development, such as target identification, hit identification, lead optimization, drug formulation, toxicity prediction, and drug repositioning. Machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, and reinforcement learning are used to assist drug research and analyze complicated biological data. In pharmaceutical formulation, AI may be used for drug formulation optimization and improvement of the manufacturing process. Furthermore, the use of AI technologies is able to predict drug responses and develop personalized treatment options. Thus, artificial intelligence is expected to improve pharmaceutical research and drug development in terms of speed, effectiveness, and accuracy.
