Abstract

In the context of employee wellness in particular, technology-facilitated wellness initiatives have gained momentum as organizations work to promote their employees' quality of life in the workplace while also pursuing sustainability initiatives. Wearable devices, AI-driven health apps, and mobile wellness platforms are digital tools that promote personalized health assessments and behavioral interventions, all of which lead to better physical and mental health. In addition to a healthier workforce, these solutions promise increased productivity, cost savings, and an opportunity to drive Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) goals. However, technostress, digital divide, and data privacy remain contentious issues that complicate equitable and sustainable implementation. Considering these aspects, this review aims to relate the existing body of knowledge regarding employee wellness, digital technologies, and organizational sustainability. This shows the need for a system that adopts a holistic and inclusive approach to avoid pitfalls in the concept of digital wellness programs. Some of these are accessibility, responsible data handling, and strategic alignment with organizational goals. Although the initial results are promising, significant gaps remain in research, particularly regarding the long-term effects of these interventions on employee engagement, retention, and business performance. The study also suggests a conceptual typology and provides focused recommendations for future research and real-world implementation. It requires systematic, longitudinal studies that track sustained changes in behavior, changing employee sentiments, and longer-term organizational outcomes such as innovation, performance, and financial return. This knowledge contributes to improving wellness programs to address diverse employee needs and encourage a culture of well-being that is crucial for long-term, nourished success in the digital age.
